Behind the Blog: Top 3 Things I Need To Survive

Behind the Blog is a feature I've created to allow my readers to learn more about us outside of the blogging and book world. My hope is to connect with readers outside of books, make friends beyond the blog. As far as I know, the title of this feature came from my own mind. I don't recall seeing it on a blog before, so if you have a feature with the same name, no copy intended.

Top 3 Things I Need To Get Through An Entire Day
1) Caffeine - Yes, I have a physical addiction to caffeine. Aside from that, though, I would be a total zombie without it. Or witch--trust me when I say you do not want to talk to me before my coffee.

2) Chap stick - I feel like I hold some sort of record for how often lips can become chapped. And, despite the endless tubes of chap stick I buy, I always seem to be missing some when I need it the most.

3) Wallet - It's like my safety net...especially now that I have a job again. I don't feel right leaving the house without some cash and my debit card. Knowing my luck, I must be prepared for emergencies!
1) My phone! My life is contained within this hand-held device, I swear! I can keep in touch with my friends, family, boyfriend and all things bloggish on the go. :)

2) Jacket. Yes, I know. I sound weird. I tend to always carry a jacket/hoodie with me - more of a comfort/lack of confidence thing I guess.

3) Book. I always pack a book in my bag just in case I have a spare few minutes as I often can't wait to get back home to continue reading.

What do you need to survive an entire day?

Behind the Blog: Things I Wish I Was Better At

Behind the Blog is a feature I've created to allow my readers to learn more about us outside of the blogging and book world. My hope is to connect with readers outside of books, make friends beyond the blog. As far as I know, the title of this feature came from my own mind. I don't recall seeing it on a blog before, so if you have a feature with the same name, no copy intended.

1) Art - Lemme just say, I do not have the hands of an artist. I try so hard but I can't even draw a straight line...using a ruler.

2) Organization - I'm a total slob, for one. (Behold, my backpack of doom below!) I actually pay my best friend to clean my room for me (you don't even want to see that disaster). I'm also bad about planning things in advance and remembering what I've planned.
3) Dancing - All dem bitchez in da club be jealous when I break it dowwwwn. *Le sigh* The extent of my dance moves:
4) Harmonizing - I love to sing. A lot. And I'm relatively good at it. I get solos and whatnot, but when me and my friend try to arrange a duet, she is always the one that has to find harmony. I clearly wasn't gifted with the magic ear of music. It's really not very convenient considering I'm an alto (for those of you who don't know, that means I pretty much ALWAYS sing the harmony).

5) World domination - I've only managed small feats thus far, like leaving pictures of cats in random places. But I will take over the world some day. One cat at a time.
1) Draw!! I seriously can't even manage a half decent stick man...
2) Sing *strangled cat alert!*
3) I know it's a weird one but I wish I could just act confident, I'm really bad at giving into my anxiety.
4) Play the piano (I do play but not very well! :S)
1) Sports - I don't even want to comment too much on this. I've got competition issues which is kind of ironic considering I'm really not that good. I just don't like losing. You should see me and my trash talk; can someone say "all bark, no bite?"

2) Science - I nearly burnt my eyebrows off in my chem class. Let's just say I poured way too much alcohol into the solution and nearly blew the roof off the joint... literally. Thankfully, I didn't get intro trouble because it was an honest mistake, but the science skills are like 0.

3) Working - My favorite word is procrastination. That just means I have a huge issue with balancing my blogging life with  my school life. You know, I've actually still got homework due from March that I haven't done yet. I'm an A student for nothing...

4) Photoshop Designing - I make my own banners and on my blog, you can see little examples of my work. But the simplest designs can take me up to 4 hours which really sucks. I wish I was better and I try to practice as much as possible, but I wish I was one of those cover ninjas.

5) Beat boxing - I love acapella.

Tell us, what activities do you wish didn't make you look like a n00b!?

ITEMS YOU CAN FIND SCATTERED ALL OVER MY HOUSE...
(Otherwise known as: messes that frustrate my father)

1) There's the obvious: Books! I do my best to keep them all on my shelves, but sometimes it just doesn't work. They are in stacks on the coffee table, on the dining room table, my nightstand, my dresser. Books have pretty much taken over my world :D

2) Shoes. I have this semi-secret and completely ridiculous rule  for myself that states I cannot where the same pair of shoes twice in one week. And when I get home, I just take my shoes off whenever and where ever I feel like it. There are shoes in the kitchen, the bathroom, behind the couch (I really don't even know hoe they got there), and under my bed.

3) Half-full water bottles. I love water. But sometimes I only drink half a bottle then forget all about it. I have half-full bottles on the tables, couches, my bed, my floor, the living room floor, the kitchen counter. A lot of times, if we run out of water bottles, my dad just combines all the half full ones and puts them back in the fridge.

4) Earrings. I have some frackin crazy earrings. A few examples:
(Yes, those are adorable elephants. Betsy Johnson!)
And, just like my shoes, I take them off where ever my little heart desires. Then my dad moves them somewhere else so they don't get lost. But that mostly ends up with them getting separated and me having to search for the other one.

What kind of stuff do you have scattered around your house?

NOMNOM FOODS I WANT TO EAT AT ALL HOURS OF THE DAY
...which is extremely difficult to write about considering I'm on a diet.

Olive Garden salad
I am literally addicted to this. When I go to Olive Garden, I don't even order anything. I just eat the salad. I even make my dad buy bottles of the dressing. I can eat bowls and bowls and bowls of this!

Asparagus with hollandaise sauce
Everyone gives me a WTF look when I say this, but OMG IT'S SO GOOD. Hollandaise sauce is a bit rich but the asparagus helps balance it out, as long as you don't completely drench it.

Banana bread
This is the best thing ever. I've literally eaten an entire loaf of this stuff within less than an hour. So unhealthy but made my belly happy.

Cheese
Does this need any explanation at ALL!?

Flank steak
Marinaded in Italian dressing and cut at just the right angle...mmmm....talk about heaven.

Muffins
Of any kind.

Chili
Preferably homeade, with loooootttts of cheese and onions.

Honey mustard pretzel
These are the frackin chizz. I love pretzels and I love honey mustard. Then, you dip these in Nutella and let the instant orgasm ensue.

Filet Mignon
This is so delicious. I used to eat filet mignon so much when I was younger that I was burned out on it and didn't want my dad to make it anymore. Now...I wantz all da filet.

French fries
My favorite food ever. They are so horrible for me but I could eat them all the time for the rest of my life, with ketchup and mayo. And lots of pepper. *shudders*

My dad obviously feeds me well, but this is really only the pin-sized tip of the Titanic-sized iceberg. Now excuse me while I go eat a Lean Cuisine and pretend it's a scrumptious combination of all of the above.

But seriously, what are YOUR favorite foods? Please, tell me. I could talk about food forever.

So. Much. Drama. I can't help but love it.

What are your favorite shows!?
