Top Ten Tuesday: Books Before Blogging

(If the book is the first in a series, then I mean the entire series, but I may have finished the series while blogging.)

1) Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare

3) Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead - I have NO idea what I'd do if I never discovered this series. Pretty much my all time fave. And to think, I only picked it off the shelf in the grocery store because it has the word "vampire" in the title. 

4) Uglies by Scott Westerfeld - This was one of those series I loved before I even liked reading. I think it's the first series I ever re-read. 

5) This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen - This is my favorite Dessen book, to this day. 

6) Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen - This is my second favorite Dessen book, to this day. I remember staying up all night sprawled on my brother's living room floor reading this. 

7) The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han - I stayed up all night reading this one as well...ON A SCHOOL NIGHT. I finished it on the bus to school, and my friends told me I'm crazy. But it's okay because ALL THE FEELZ.

8) Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl - Okay, so the first book wasn't the best thing that ever happened to me, but this series in general is one that has claimed a spot in my heart for a long time to come. 

9) Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick - This is one of my guilty pleasure series. It's not, like, mind-blowing or anything, but what can I say other than that I enjoyed the series?

10) City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

Top Ten Tuesday: Book Boyfriends

I think a universal fact about book junkies is this: We connect to characters. We dive head first into their (most of the time) screwed up world, read their thoughts, hang on to their feelings. Sometimes we laugh with them, sometimes we cry for them. There are some characters we can't wait to see again, others we hope get their head crushed by a pirate riding a unicorn (which are totally okay thoughts to have about fictional characters). Most importantly, those characters steal a little piece of our souls whether we say it's okay or not.

I could prattle on about fictional characters for the rest of my lifehours. Especially fictional characters of the male variety. So this was a deliciously tortuous topic for me. Picking between my fave YA hotties is like trying to pick a favorite song or food and I'm like "OMG THERE ARE SO MANY I LOVE." I did my best, guys. I swear.  ~Gabbi

1) Link from the Caster Chronicles by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl - Link is the kind of guy, that if he went to my high school, I would become his best friend and secretly pine for him, maybe without even realizing it. He has such a laid back, go-with-the-flow personality. He is a great friend and has a huge heart. Not to mention the goofiest sense of humor. 

2) Alex Sheathes from the Delirium series by Lauren Oliver - Alex will literally do anything for love. He's just so...beautiful. A lot of guys are sexy and funny and awesome, but Alex is just beautiful. 

3) Noah Hutchins from Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry - OMG OMG OMG Noah. I don't even know what to say. He both fits the stereotypical badboy and yet completely obliteratres it. He's got so many issues and he just needs a hug. Maybe some kisses. I could give him some kisses...ya know, if that's what he needs....

4) Dexter Jones from This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen - Dex is just the sweetest and the goofiest and one persistent little turdnugget. Not to mention he is in a band that writes song about potatoes! 

5) Dimitri Belikov from the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead - Dimitri is the kind of guy that I would probably literally swoon over. He's a badass in a fight, and yet he has the gentlest touch. He can sweep you off your feet with a gaze and deliver a harsh truth in a beautiful and wise way. He is a model citizen for upstanding morals, but sometimes he has to make decisions that seemingly fight those morals. I just love him, okay. I'm sighing just thinking about him. 

6) William Herondale from The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare - I honestly don't think I have words for William Herondale. My heart clenches when I think about him. He's just so perfectly imperfect. 

7) Augustus Waters from The Fault in Our Stars by John Green - Augustus is another one of those guys I can just see going to my high school and me developing a ginormicus crush on. He is smart and funny and the weirdest sort of wonderful. So full of life and passion. 

8) Magnus Bane from The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare - Glitter. Rainbow leather pants. Cat eyes. Bisexual. Immortal warlock. Come on now. 

9) Adrian Ivashkov from the Bloodlines series by Richelle Mead - He doesn't need an explanation. He just doesn't. But I'll give you this because I am in a generous mood: 

“Yeah? Can you draw a skeleton riding a motorcycle with flames coming out of it? And I want a pirate hat on the skeleton. And a parrot on his shoulder. A skeleton parrot. Or maybe a ninja skeleton parrot? No, that would be overkill. But it'd be cool if the biker skeleton could be shooting some ninja throwing stars. That are on fire.”

10) Adam Wilde from If I Stay and its companion Where She Went by Gayle Forman - Nomalicious musician. Need I say more?

They're all really dark, mysterious and have a reason to pull you in. They've also got amazing stories in their past that sometimes, you just can't expect. 1) City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare

I don't know why I haven't read this yet. I love this series and I was SO EAGER to buy it. 

2) Rift and 3) Rise by Andrea Cremer

Andrea Cremer is so fantastic and I was so excited when I found at she was making a prequel to her popular Nightshade series. I bought both of these books right when they came out, and I am yet to crack open either one.

4) The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken

I remember pretty much crying every time someone got an ARC of this...

5) Burn for Burn by Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian

Anything that has Jenny Han's name attached to it has to be awesome. I wanted this book so bad for so frackin long. 

6)Tempest by Julie Cross

Even now, I look at this shelf and want to read it. I don't know what is stopping me.

7) Just One Day by Gayle Forman

GAYLE FORMAN OMG OMG OMG I started reading this, but set it down when other books came out like it isn't important but it is important so so importsant

8) Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins

I saw a video or something that made me immediately go order this book and then I never touched it.

9) Destined by Jessie Harrell

I actually won this but I remember dying around the time of the blog tour and yet I have not even take it off my shelf once. 

10) A Midsummer's Nightmare by Kody Keplinger

I actually bought two copies of this a while ago. One for giveaway (which I STILL haven't sent. I am so so so so sorry. I will do that sometime this week!) and one for me because its summary was pretty much the love of my life. 

Top Ten Tuesday: Auto-Buy

1) Richelle Mead - I actually haven't read any of her adult stuff, simply because I haven't gotten my hands on any of it. But I pretty much worship her, I have a whole drawer in my entertainment center dedicated to her YA books. 

2) Lauren Oliver - I haven't read her MG stuff yet. But lemme jus say, if I could pick one author to write like, it would be Lauren Oliver. She is AMAZING.

3) Sarah Dessen - Nuff said. 

4) Cassandra Clare - Though I would love her to branch out of the Shadowhunter world, I do adore everything she has ever written. Girl has a way with characters and plots. 

5) Jenny Han - ALL DA FEELZ!

6) Katie McGarry - I can't even use words to describe what Katie McGarry does to me.

7) John Green - I've only actually read 1 of his novels, but, uh, WIN.

Those are the only authors I know of whose writing I have utter faith in. What about you? 

Top Ten Tuesday: Fall TBR

The Evolution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin - I'm not a supermajor fan of the first book in the series, but I do want to see where the story goes and if it will get better.

Beautiful Redemption by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl - I lovelovelovelove this series. Beautiful Chaos ended with such a bang...I've waited my entire life for this, I swear.

The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken - I adore Alexandra's first book, Brightly Woven and can't wait to see what brilliance Bracken brings with this completely different novel.

Finale by Becca Fitzpatrick - Since Silence was so incredibly uneventful, I can only assume she included double the awesome in this final book.

Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes - The title, the cover, the smmary--all of it seems so epic!

Stealing Parker by Miranda Kenneally - Catching Jordan was a great book, and I have confidence that her books are only going to get better.

The Almost Truth by Eileen Cook - I have made it a goal to read and own every YA book that Eileen Cook produces.

The Space Between Us by Jessica Martinez - OMG DID YOU READ VIRTUOSITY? Because if you have then you understand my overwhelming excitement. IF NOT GO READ NOW OR I SHANK YOU.

Time Between Us by Tamara Ireland Stone - I have such a cover connection with this book, every time I see it I am compelled to stalk the author, find out where she lives, and go steal the manuscript and read it nomnomnomnommmmmm!!!

Who I Kissed by Janet Gurtler - Janet always ha incredible plots and I love her previous book, If I Tell.

Top Ten Tuesday: Summer TBR

1) City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare - I love Cassie and I love The Mortal Instruments. And I love Jace. I have been waiting for this novel for what feels like forever, what with the super cliffhanger ending that was CoFA. I've had it for a few weeks but for some reason I haven't gotten around to reading it yet. 

2) The Golden Lily by Richelle Mead - OMGOMGOMGOMG!!! I fangirl every time I even think of Richelle Mead. She's my ultimate favorite author, just like VA is my ultimate favorite series. I adore Adrian so much *swoooooon* and I have no doubt I will love this series as much as VA. 

3) Spell Bound by Rachel Hawkins - To this day, I don't think I've found a witch/magic book that manages to balance fun, action, a great plot, and fabulous worldbuilding like the Hex Hall series. 

4) My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick - I love the concept of this and I've heard really great things about it. 

5) A Midsummer's Nightmare by Kody Keplinger - I have yet to read a book by Kody Keplinger, but I want this book so so so so bad. It sounds so amazing. I've always had this creepy thing for step-sibling relationships. 

6) The Fault in our Stars by John Green - I've also never read a John Green book, but I've heard the most amazing things about him. I won this book and I figure it's as good a place to start as any. 

7) Shut Out by Kody Keplinger - I got a signed copy of this from Kody herself and I cannot wait to delve in. 

8) Half-Blood by Jennifer L. Artmentrout - Same thing that goes for Kody Keplinger and John Green applies to Jennifer's work. I feel like I am the only person who has not read this series. I'm kind of waiting for the entire series to be released before I start because I have a feeling I'll just want to keep reading after I finish each book. 

9) Rift by Andrea Cremer - I adore the Nightshade series and I cannot wait to see where Andrea goes with this, Her worldbuilding is complex and intriguing and absolutely wonderful. Her writing is phenomenal. I am so excited. 

10) Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson - I hear this is such an emotional contemp book and I've really been into that. Plus, I hear it's a great beach read!

Top Ten Tuesday: Beach Reads

As a native Floridian, my summers have always revolved around the beach. Now, living in good ol' Arkansas, I desperately miss the beach. Nothing beats laying back on a soft towel, with a book in my hands, and the rays of sunlight beating down on my face. Finding the perfect book--now THAT'S essential. To me, the perfect beach read is a book that is fun, light, and leaves you with a good feeling in your gut when you finish. A book that really makes you smile and gives you hope for the world! 

#1-3) The Summer Series by Jenny Han. If you haven't read these novels, I honestly don't know what's wrong with you. I've never known anyone who doesn't adore them. Each book is so full of emotion and beautiful writing. If I were an adult, I'm sure these would bring me back to my teen years. 

#4) This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen. Everyone knows that Dessen is the summer contemporary queen. This Lullaby focuses on a girl moving past her trust issues and digging inside of herself to find real emotions she has always pushed back. This is my ultimate favorite Dessen novel. A tough protagonist with an adorable love interest, and songs about potatoes. I guarantee you will close this book with a ginormous grin on your face. 

#5) Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen. My next favorite Dessen novel. She always creates these wonderful, believable characters and puts them in unique, relatable situations. You will fly through this novel as Auden and Eli fly through their summer nights, together making the best of their insomnia. 

#6) Impossible by Nancy Werlin. This book has a unique plot and really focuses on the fact that the power of love can overcome anything. 

#7) Dance Upon the Air by Nora Roberts. This is one of the only adult novels I've absolutely devoured. It's a great beach read because it's about fresh starts and true love and the formation of lifelong friendships. 

#8) Graffiti Moon by Cath Crowley. This book is so so so so so so so so amazing. I can't put its beauty in a paragraph, so just read my review.

#9) The Education of Hailey Kendrick by Eileen Cook. This book is so much fun! It's about branching out and trying new things. Eileen Cook incorporates a perfect balance of humor and serious situations and you will have the best feeling in your gut when you are finished with this novel. 

#10) Love and Leftovers by Sarah Tregay. Told completely in verse, this novel is quick, quirky, and adorable!

Top Ten Tuesday: Favorite Characters in Books

Top Ten All Time Favorite Characters In Books

(In no particular order)

1) Rose Hathaway (Vampire Academy series)

Okay, really? Rose is my favorite character of all frackin time. She's badass, kickass, and a smartass. She's fiercely loyal, clever, and fights for what she thinks is right. She's got so many issues, and it's so great to watch her overcome her problems. 

2) Wesley "Link" Lincoln (Caster Chronicles)

Link is hilarious. Even in the most darkest times, Link could make me laugh. Then, in Beautiful Chaos, we see a more vulnerable side of him and I was swooning and awwwwwwwwing. 

3) Cassel Sharpe (Curse Workers series)

Cassel is incredibly, well, sharp. He's cunning and snarky. And most of all, I love that, despite his family history, he tries to hold himself to a higher standard. Cassel is so messed up and that's why it's hard not to love him!

4) Adam Wilde (If I Stay)

First of all, Adam is obviously sexy. Second of all, he's a musician--which is sexy. I loved how much he clearly cared about Mia and the extremes he went to in order to see her. He's adorable and, uh, did I mention SEXY!? 

5) Evan (Hushed)

The one thing I really admired about Evan was that he is infinitely patient with Arthur and he is willing to risk everything in order to help Archer. He is kind and understanding. 

6)Jace Wayland (Mortal Instruments series)

Okay, I can't help it. Jace is so wonderfully swoon-worthy. Everything that comes out of his mouth makes me melt. He is broken, sometimes a little rude, and extremely reckless. But he has a softer side when it comes to the people he loves and he is willing to sacrifice anything and everything for them. Honestly, I could go on and on about Jace, but I'll just end with: He's beautiful. 

7) Katniss Everdeen (The Hunger Games trilogy) 

Elaboration is really quite unnecessary, because we all know how kickass Katniss is. 

8) Dimitri Belikov (Vampire Academy series)

He's different than the average YA love interest, perhaps because he is a lot more man than boy. He is sweet, tender, wise, a god, focused, determined, and a lot more delicious adjectives. AND A NOMNOM ACCENT ;D

9) Sophie Mercer (Hex Hall trilogy)

I wasn't crazy about her in the first book, but in Demonglass she kicks up her badassery with more magic and kissing and snark! 

10) Magnus Bane (Mortal Instruments & Infernal Devices series)

Uh, he's MAGNUS FRACKIN BANE. Nuff said. 

No joke, that's just the tip of the iceberg of the characters I adore. Who are your favorite book characters!?

Top Ten Books I Think Would Make Great Book Club Picks

1. Gone by Michael Grant

I didn't even finish this book, but I think it appeals to many different demographics and provides many things to discuss amongst a group.

2. Virtuosity by Jessica Martinez

This book deals with a lot of issues in a very stunning way. Plus, it's an amazing book that everyone should read.

3. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

Do I even need to elaborate?

4. Don't Let Me Go by J.H. Trumble

This book is so fabulous and it goes where few books dare to go. It'll bring most people out of their comfort zones and most likely alter the way they think about certain issues.

5. Cinder by Marissa Meyer

This book is original and entertaining an appeals to guys and girls alike. It's also a very unique retelling which is good for discussion.

6. Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

This novel is written in a unique form. It is fast-paced and oozing with romance and action.

7. Delirium by Lauren Oliver

This is written so beautifully. Lauren Oliver is so incredibly talented at painting pictures and pulling emotions and everyone deserves to read this gorgeous book.

8. Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl

This book is oozing with a rich gothic setting, a 3D world and history, entertaining characters, and unique paranormal aspects. And it's told from a guys perspective!

9. If I Stay by Gayle Foreman

This book is touching and moving and all together stunning. It'll make you think and hurt and appreciate what you have.

10. Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare

Again, must I elaborate? Swoon-worthy guys, wonderful prose, heart-racing action. It's great!

Top Ten Sequels I'm Dying To Read

(Even though some of these books are actually the fourth or fifth in a series.)

• The Golden Lily by Richelle Mead. Has anyone noticed that I have a slight obsession with Richelle Mead? No? I do. For good reason, too. Anyways...The Golden Lily is the sequel to Bloodlines. *Swoons! If you haven't read Bloodlines, then I have no idea what you are waiting for! And if you have....THAT ENDING! I shall say no more so that I do not spoil it for my dear readers, but how could you NOT want to read the sequel after that?
• Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare. Need I even say more? Cassandra Clare is a literary genius. MY OPINION, PEOPLE. Don't hate! I love her and her work. A lot of people are wary of The Infernal Devices books, but I swear to you that if you like The Mortal Instruments, Will and Tessa and Jem will not disappoint!
• Insurgent by Veronica Roth. One word, four letters: Four. Nom nom nom. He is yummy, and reason enough to crave Insurgent. But, if he isn't convincing enough...HAVE YOU FUGGIN READ DIVERGENT?
• Linger by Maggie Stiefvater. I know I'm a little late to hop on this bandwagon, but better late than never, right?
• The Calling by Kelley Armstrong. I love Kelley's young adult work! I've yet to pick up one of her adult series, but I will do that. She always has fun narrators and unique plots.
• Beautiful Chaos by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. This series is so beautiful and original. I love it!
• Silence by Becca Fitzpatrick. Patch! Ahhh! I can't help but go a little fan girl when I think of him. And with the ending from Crescendo, I am desperate for more!
• Wings of the Wicked by Courtney Allison Moulton. I feel like this series is off to a great start. I'm excited to learn more about the characters, delve deeper into the forbidden romance, and see more of Ellie's past!
• Spellbound by Rachel Hawkins. For reasons, I'd advise you go find my review for Demonglass.
• City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare. MORE CASSIE! I swear, one of my goals in life is to meet her and get a book signed by her. Jace Jace Jace. Holy Hell Balls, I need more Jace!

There are so many more I want to read, these were just the first ones I could think of! They are in no particular order, by the way. So, what sequels are you just DYING to read?

YA Series And Books That I Want To Re-Read

• The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. I love all of Cassandra Clare's work so much. She is such a fantastic author. The moment I finished City of Bones I knew this was one of my new favorite series. And with all the hype about Jace winning the crush tourney, I just really want to re-read it!
• The Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead. Okay, I'll admit, I've already read this series about six times. It is my ultimate favorite. These books helped me get through various different moves and showed me what well-written books look like. Well-written vampire books as well. These books helped me pass English and bond with others. I fell in love with the characters and the writing. This series literally changed my life. Now, with Bloodlines only a week away from being released, I really wish that I could re-read this whole series.
• The Summer series by Jenny Han. I didn't expect to love these books as much as I did. The night that I picked up the first installment, I decided to pull an all-nighter and read it, and then I finished it on the school bus the next morning. I was devastated when I discovered there were only three books.
• The Darkest Powers series by Kelley Armstrong. I seriously just miss this series and the characters.
• The Forbidden Game series by LJ Smith. This series was great. I loved the plot and the characters. I love that the bad guy was the hero. I just really want to re-read it in my spare time.
• Along For the Ride by Sarah Dessen. Sarah Dessen is fantastic. This is one of my favorites from her, after This Lullaby which I re-read not too long ago.
• Dreamland by Sarah Dessen. This was the first book by Sarah Dessen that I had ever heard of. It is beautiful and sad. And my third favorite.
• The Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld. The first dystopian book I ever picked up. I've already read this series, like, three times but I love it! This was the first series that I ever read and loved. After reading it, I became OBSESSED with the name Tally, and I love that name to this day.
• Brightly Woven by Alexandra Bracken. I remember falling in love when I read this book for the first time.
• The Hush, Hush series by Becca Fitzpatrick. I could definitely handle some more Patch deliciousness.
