Quote Impressions: The Romantique Edition

“As he read, I fell in love the way you fall asleep: slowly, and then all at once.” - The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

“'And I'm suppose to sit by while you date boys and fall in love with someone else, get married...?'" His voice tightened. "'And meanwhile, I'll die a little bit more every day, watching.'” - City of Glass by Cassandra Clare

“On a sigh he brought up his hand and used one long finger to brush a dark curl away from my face. With the saddest look in his eyes, he said, 'A girl needs to be held right now, and comforted, and told that everything is going to be okay. I'm sorry I can't do that for you. I don't have any of that left.'

'I have a little,' I said, 'and I'll lend it to you.'” - Such a Rush by Jennifer Echols

Enjoy the various degrees of swoon. Also, clicking on the book covers will take you to the respective book's goodreads page.

Top Ten Tuesday: Books Featuring Travel of Some Sort

1) Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen - Obviously, the form of travel in this book is a bicycle, which plays a really big role in this book. More symbolic than anything, I think. But, I just re-read this book (one of my favorite of Dessen's) and it was even better the 2nd time around.

2) The Book of Broken Hearts by Sarah Ockler - All I have to say--motorcycle boys=NOM.

3) Just One Day by Gayle Forman - This book has all sorts of different travel in it. In fact, readers get to travel all over the world with this book!

4) The Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead - From planes to cars to trains to feet to mind traveling, Rose goes on so many adventures throughout this series. (I just had to put this on my list. Just had to.)

5) Such a Rush by Jennifer Echols - A teenage girl who flies airplanes? Yeah buddy.

6) Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry - Another book that I just HAD to put on the list. Because it's frackin' awesome. There is a road trip at the end, sorta, so it counts!

7) Unbreak My Heart by Melissa Walker - I think this is the only book I've read that takes place primarily on a boat. Love it!

8) On the Island by Tracey Garvis Graves - Plane crashes have never been sexier ;D

9) Golden by Jessi Kirby & 10) The Fault in Our Stars by John Green - Both of these books feature a unique adventure (one by car, the other by plane) that made the books so much more realistic and meaningful.

Practically Peeing

I know, what a weird post title! But there's a lot of times when I'm excited for a book I say I'm peeing my pants for it. So "Practically Peeing" is a feature sort of like Waiting on Wednesday or On My Wishlist or Books  To Pine For where I showcase books that I realllllllly want to read. They might already be released, they might be a year away, they might be coming out next month! Either way, I can guarantee, I really want to read them.

Love Story by Jennifer Echols
Series: Standalone
Genre: YA contemporary
Publication Date: July 19, 2011
Publisher: MTV Books
Pages: 243

She's writing about him. he's writing about her. And everybody is reading between the lines..

For Erin Blackwell, majoring in creative writing at the New York City college of her dreams is more than a chance to fulfill her ambitions--it's her ticket away from the tragic memories that shadow her family's racehorse farm in Kentucky. But when she refuses to major in business and take over the farm herself someday, her grandmother gives Erin's college tuition and promised inheritance to their maddeningly handsome stable boy, Hunter Allen. Now Erin has to win an internship and work late nights at a coffee shop to make her own dreams a reality. She should despise Hunter . . . so why does he sneak into her thoughts as the hero of her latest writing assignment?

Then, on the day she's sharing that assignment with her class, Hunter walks in. He's joining her class. And after he reads about himself in her story, her private fantasies about him must be painfully clear. She only hopes to persuade him not to reveal her secret to everyone else. But Hunter devises his own creative revenge, writing sexy stories that drive the whole class wild with curiosity and fill Erin's heart with longing. Now she's not just imagining what might have been. She's writing a whole new ending for her romance with Hunter. . . . except this story could come true.
I loved Jennifer Echols's book Such a Rush. It was steamy, and I loved the characters. I have no doubt this book will hold the same awesome elements. Plus, fun creative writing stuff thrown in there!

Series: Just One Day #2
Genre: YA/NA Contemporary
Publication Date: October 15, 2013
Publisher: Dutton Children's

After spending an amazing day and night together in Paris, Just One Year is Willem's story, picking up where Just One Day ended. His story of their year of quiet longing and near misses is a perfect counterpoint to Allyson's own as Willem undergoes a transformative journey, questioning his path, finding love, and ultimately, redefining himself.

Words can't even. Gayle Forman is AMAZEBALLZ and I adoredlovedworship Just One Day. I can't wait to get to know smexy Willem more!
Series: Standalone
Genre: YA contemporary
Publication Date: December 24, 2012

Robert Westfall's life is falling apart-everywhere but in math class. That's the one place where problems always have a solution. But in the world beyond high school, his father is terminally ill, his mother is squabbling with his interfering aunts, his boyfriend is unsupportive, and the career path that's been planned for him feels less appealing by the day.

Robert's math teacher, Andrew McNelis, watches his best student floundering, concerned but wary of crossing the line between professional and personal. Gradually, Andrew becomes Robert's friend, then his confidante. As the year progresses, their relationship-in school and out of it-deepens and changes. And as hard as he tries to resist, Andrew knows that he and Robert are edging into territory that holds incalculable risks for both of them.
J.H. Trumble is spectacular beyond explanation. Her debut novel, Don't Let Me Go was legit the best. Her writing is poignant, and her characters have so much depth.
Series: Standalone
Genre: YA/NA contemporary
Publication Date: September 5, 2012
Publisher: Atria Books
Pages: 448

Former piano prodigy Nastya Kashnikov wants two things: to get through high school without anyone learning about her past and to make the boy who took everything from her—her identity, her spirit, her will to live—pay.

Josh Bennett’s story is no secret: every person he loves has been taken from his life until, at seventeen years old, there is no one left. Now all he wants is be left alone and people allow it because when your name is synonymous with death, everyone tends to give you your space.

Everyone except Nastya, the mysterious new girl at school who starts showing up and won’t go away until she’s insinuated herself into every aspect of his life. But the more he gets to know her, the more of an enigma she becomes. As their relationship intensifies and the unanswered questions begin to pile up, he starts to wonder if he will ever learn the secrets she’s been hiding—or if he even wants to.

The Sea of Tranquility is a rich, intense, and brilliantly imagined story about a lonely boy, an emotionally fragile girl, and the miracle of second chances.
I have heard the most magnificent things about this book. I've got a weird thing for the books that completely obliterate my heart, and I've heard that this is that kind of book, so of course I must experience ALL THE FEELZ.

Waiting On Wednesday: Dirty Little Secret

This week, I'm dying for...

Series: Standalone
Genre: YA Cntemporary
Publication Date: July 16, 2013
Publisher: MTV Books
Pages: 288
Bailey wasn’t always a wild child and the black sheep of her family. She used to play fiddle and tour the music circuit with her sister, Julie, who sang and played guitar. That ended when country music execs swooped in and signed Julie to a solo deal. Never mind that Julie and Bailey were a duet, or that Bailey was their songwriter. The music scouts wanted only Julie, and their parents were content to sit by and let her fulfill her dreams while Bailey’s were hushed away.

Bailey has tried to numb the pain and disappointment over what could have been. And as Julie’s debut album is set to hit the charts, her parents get fed up with Bailey’s antics and ship her off to granddad’s house in Nashville. Playing fiddle in washed-up tribute groups at the mall, Bailey meets Sam, a handsome and oh-so-persuasive guitarist with his own band. He knows Bailey’s fiddle playing is just the thing his band needs to break into the industry. But this life has broken Bailey’s heart once before. She isn’t sure she’s ready to let Sam take her there again…

I've read one book by Jennifer Echols: Such A Rush. It was amazing! Echols is a fabulous writer, and after reading that book I became a fan. I don't care what it is about, I'll buy anything she puts out. But it helps that this book is about music, which is one of my fave things evuhhhh! Plus, nobody writes about fiddles, so I'm intrigued.

What are you waiting on?

On my wishlist (4)

Okay, so I was going to post this yesterday, but I was so caught up in the magic of Bloodlines that I completely forgot!

On my wishlist is a weekly meme hosted by Book Chick City every Saturday.
If you would like to participate or learn more about it, click HERE.

My wishlist:

The Near Witch by Victoria Schwab
Publication date: August 2, 2011
Genre: YA paranormal

Summary from Goodreads:

The Near Witch is only an old story told to frighten children.

If the wind calls at night, you must not listen. The wind is lonely, and always looking for company.

And there are no strangers in the town of Near.

These are the truths that Lexi has heard all her life.
But when an actual stranger—a boy who seems to fade like smoke—appears outside her home on the moor at night, she knows that at least one of these sayings is no longer true.
The next night, the children of Near start disappearing from their beds, and the mysterious boy falls under suspicion. Still, he insists on helping Lexi search for them. Something tells her she can trust him.
As the hunt for the children intensifies, so does Lexi’s need to know—about the witch that just might be more than a bedtime story, about the wind that seems to speak through the walls at night, and about the history of this nameless boy.
Part fairy tale, part love story, Victoria Schwab’s debut novel is entirely original yet achingly familiar: a song you heard long ago, a whisper carried by the wind, and a dream you won’t soon forget.

I've heard so many wonderful things about this book and I've wanted to read it for the longest time. I like the creepiness factor and everything, so hopefully I'll be buying this soon.

So, does this not sound absolutely adorable!? I mean, I've heard what a great writer Jennifer Echols is, but I've never read her work. Ever since I read the synopsis of this book I have been itching to read it!

The Nine Lives of Chloe King by Liz Braswell
Publication date: June 7, 2011
Genre: YA fantasy

Summary from Goodreads:

Chloe King is a normal girl. She goes to class (most of the time), fights with her mom, and crushes on a boy…or two. But around her sixteenth birthday, Chloe finds that perhaps she isn’t so normal after all. There’s the heightened night vision, the super fast reflexes – oh, and the claws.
As she discovers who she is – and where she comes from – it is clear she is not alone. And someone is trying to get her.
Chloe has nine lives. But will nine be enough?

I figured I'd jump on the bandwagon. I mean, I wouldn't say I necessarily LOVE the TV series, but I do enjoy it and that was enough to peak my interest in the books.

 So what's on your wishlist?
