Most of you are probably familiar with NaNoWriMo, which is National Novel Writing Month. Most of you also probably know that November is the aforementioned National Novel Writing Month. NaNoWriMo is the month in which anybody - girl or boy, small or large, young or old, purple or blue - sits down and knocks out 50,000 words of jumbled crap that will probably never get published. Or maybe it's not jumbled crap, and maybe it will get published. The point is, NaNoWriMo is a month in which you write a novel, just to write a novel.
Now, obviously it's not November, so why the heck am I talking about it? Because now there is CAMP NaNoWriMo which takes place in July and August.
WHAT'S THIS I HEAR? July is over? Since when? Six days ago? Which means that it is no longer the beginning of August? GASP! Who'd've thunk?
Obviously, considering July is over, you can no longer participate in that. But even though we are six days into August that doesn't mean it is too late to join! You could join August 30th, if you wanted. CampNaNoWriMo is a non-profit website. You can join completely for free and donate, if you'd like. It is used as a motivator for people to finally complete a draft. After you join, all you have to do is type in your word count and the website will calculate how many words you write, on average how many words per day you write (assuming that you started on the first of August) and how may words per day that you need to write in order to knock out 50k words by the end of August.
Honestly, I was at a total writing jam for the past two weeks. For some reason I just couldn't bring myself to write my story, and then today I discovered Camp NaNoWriMo and all of a sudden, I was roaring and ready to go.
If you would like to join, all you have to do is CLICK HERE and get started!
